Science

Science Intent

At Hilltop, we believe that science empowers children to understand the world around them and their place within it. Our science curriculum is designed to foster curiosity, critical thinking and a deep respect for evidence, enabling pupils to become confident young scientists who are prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the modern world.

Our approach to science is rooted in evidence-informed practice. We recognise that high-quality science education requires secure subject knowledge, explicit teaching of key concepts, carefully structured practical work and thoughtful attention to addressing misconceptions. The curriculum is coherently sequenced so that pupils build on prior learning, make meaningful connections and develop increasingly sophisticated scientific understanding over time.

Through high-quality teaching and meaningful scientific experiences, we aim for every child at Hilltop to leave primary school scientifically literate, inquisitive and confident in their ability to understand and influence the world around them.
