Understanding the World

The group are guided to make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.

The EYFS have been provided with a range of awe and wonder opportunities through:

  •  A walk to the local Church creating our own stained glass windows and discussing different places of worship
  • Visits from the police, fire service, a paramedic, a hairdresser and real owls
  •  Completing age-appropriate games on the chrome netbooks
  • Science experiments such as: the alka seltzer rocket, growing our own grass, rainbow skittles, colouring carnations and swimming gingerbread men
  • They have celebrated the Hanukkah festival, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Bonfire night, Harvest, Pancake Day, Valentines Day and Mothers Day
  • The group helped to raise money for Sports Relief and the Australian bush fires
  •  They represented the School so well on our recent trips to Matlock Farm Park and The Tropical Butterfly Park
