'The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it's about using all that knowledge to help bring divides and bring people together.'
Throughout Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils are engaged in learning about a variety of people, places and environments, both locally and further afield. Pupils develop their knowledge of people and places to understand the physical, social and economic forces, which shape those places and the lifestyles of the people who live there. The children learn to use maps to locate cities, countries, mountain ranges, rivers, seas and oceans.
