We are very excited to introduce our new School Council! Each class from Reception to Key Stage 2 nominated two representatives to meet fortnightly on a Tuesday lunchtime with Mrs Jaques, Mr Orwin, and Parent Governor Mrs Whale.
Two meetings have been held so far - the first meeting set the rules of working together and took some initial ideas of pink rubbers, staying off the mud at playtime, Playground Friends to collect equipment from the grass, books and comics at breaktime, and extra lunchtime clubs.
Today's meeting confirmed that the rubbers are on order and a Year 5 pupil has been designated as playground equipment monitor. More specific ideas for playtime activities were discussed such as certain board games, 'Hula Hoop Monday', zoning off the playground to enable football and basketball. Mrs Jaques also confirmed that once the drier weather comes everyone will be able to play on the pirate ship and tyre park again.
Finally, it was asked when the builders will be back so that we can ask them to build a new library. Mrs Jaques will help the School Council write to Derbyshire County Council to ask for confirmation of when the next phase of building work will begin.
The children have come with some wonderful ideas thought up by themselves and their classmates, and we can't wait to see where the members of the School Council take us next!
